The owner of this tree wanted to reduce the size of the tree to allow more light into his home.

Several years before, this tree had been cut back too hard and as a result the tree had produced considerable new growth.

While the growth was new it was not a problem, but after a number of years the growth had become larger and heavier. As a result, there was a significant chance that one of the limbs would split and fall, due to weak joints between the limbs and the trunk.

Peter Stopford Tree Specialists reduced the size of the branches so they were carrying less weight and under less stress, reducing the chance of a limb breaking and falling. This also allowed more light into the property.

Finally, several pegs had been left on the tree after the previous work which prevented the tree from healing satisfactorily. Our tree surgeons removed all the pegs and any dead wood, using the correct pruning cuts, allowing the tree to heal properly.
