Tree Felling
Felling trees is a job for properly trained professionals particularly with large specimens and in confined spaces or where access is difficult. Removing trees over buildings with the obvious risk of damage or over ponds, lakes and rivers can present real challenges.

We’ll tackle the most difficult jobs safely and precisely without damage to property or gardens.

Pruning
Often trees are pruned carelessly so that the result looks impressive to the untrained eye but the tree is fundamentally damaged. We prune so that trees are taken back to strong offshoots and cut accurately so that the tree recovers quickly and grows strongly thereafter. We will recommend the type of pruning or reduction most suited to your tree.

Diagrammatic examples of common pruning techniques:

  • Crown Lifting

This increases the distance between the lower branches of the tree and the ground. Crown lifting can be used to allow more light through to the ground, allow easier access below the tree or perhaps improve a view.

  • Crown Thinning

The density of the crown is reduced, but at the same time the overall shape and size of the tree remains the same. This technique allows more light into the crown of the tree and also allows more light through to the ground. Please note that is only a pictorial representation of crown thinning. When this technique is carried out on a live tree, it would normally be less extensive.

  • Crown Reduction

This technique is called crown reduction and is used to balance and reshape trees if they get too large or grow unevenly.

It also allows the removal of large, heavy branches that could split and fall.

Again, please note that is only an illustration of this technique.

Hedge Trimming
Many of our clients don’t have trees that need pruning, reduction or felling but have ordinary garden hedges that need careful trimming or thinning so the hedge is of a more manageable size and grows healthily.

We will leave your hedge neatly trimmed and healthy and the surrounding area immaculately tidy.

Stump Removal

Tree stumps can be unsightly and inconvenient preventing the full restoration of your property after a tree has been felled or removed. We can remove stumps using grinders allowing you to replant as quickly as possible without the use of chemicals that can make early re-planting impossible.

Tree Planting
There’s a lot more to planting trees that grow quickly and healthily than may appear at first sight.
We can recommend appropriate trees for any setting and purpose and give your trees the start they need with careful planting and initial maintenance including fertilisation, irrigation and mulching.

Recycling
Clients often need more than just conventional tree surgery and maintenance. They may require clearance of shrubberies or other planted areas and the removal of brambles and overgrowth.

We can recycle woody materials using chippers and remove any garden material swiftly and economically.

Tree Preservation Orders

Local Authorities can make orders under the Town and Country Planning Act to preserve trees or woodlands. Orders can prevent the cutting down, removal, pruning or wilful damage or destruction of trees without the consent of the Local Authority. Orders may cover individual trees or groups of trees.

Before any work is carried out on preserved trees you must have written consent from your Local Authority. We will liaise with the Local Authority on permission and on any conditions that might apply.
